There are many possible answers to that question. This short course presents one answer.

These pages provide information about creating a website from scratch using Drupal.

What is Drupal and why should I use it?

Drupal is a no-cost content management system. Rather than controlling every detail of every page, you control only the information content of the pages (hence the name "content management".) You can edit and change the information from any where, at any time, using only a web browser. You can change the appearance of the site by changeing a few settings, rather than making changes to every page.

Drupal provides a framework for presenting information and frees the developer and maintainer of the drugerary of hand-crafting individual web pages.

Drupal is a vast and rich tool set and can be very daunting. We are going to start slow and only use specific parts of Drupal.
