ContentWhat should you include in your WordPress blog/Newsletter? Everything that is of interest to most of your audience of Scouts, Parents and Adult leaders that could also be viewed by the public. I suggest that you provide details about outings, events, summer camp, high adventure, merit badge opportunities, and accomplishments I also provide occasional "Scoutmaster Minutes" that reflect on the success or the challenges that we face. While I don't avoid discussion of difficult topics, I try to cast everything in a positive way. Many times I copy and past information that's provided to me from some other source about programs or merit badge opportunities so that my Troop has access to the information in a single place. I'll also include links back to the sources of information or the registration information so that readers can get more information. What shouldn't be in your content? Be positive and supportive of the efforts of everyone, even if some undertakings are not totally successes. Don't air "dirty laundry" or complain about things. It might make you fee better to complain about things, but you are the only one that will feel better as a result. Complaining almost never achieves positive results. Be positive. |
